Oct 07 (Field Level Media) – Las Vegas Aces veteran guard Jewell Loyd has been ruled out of Wednesday night’s Game 2 semifinal contest against the host Golden State Valkyries due to a left leg injury.
Loyd was injured during the third quarter of Game 1 on Sunday and she missed the rest of the contest. Loyd was scoreless in 17 minutes.
The 2023 WNBA scoring champion, who averaged 24.7 points per game for the Seattle Storm, is now a role player for the Aces. The 12th-year pro, who turned 33 on Monday, is averaging a career-low 8.0 points per game.
Loyd, a six-time All-Star, has a career average of 15.4 points per game.
Las Vegas managed a season-low point total in Sunday’s 71-60 loss to Golden State in Game 1 in San Francisco.
Aces coach Becky Hammon mentioned being shorthanded after the loss.
“We don’t have a lot of time to sulk about it,” Hammon said. “Nobody feels bad for us. It’s the next woman up.”
Forward Stephanie Talbot (left leg) is questionable for Las Vegas, while guard Dana Evans (right knee) has been upgraded to probable. Both players missed Game 1.
