A woman is dead after a crash Saturday night that shut down a major roadway.
An investigation indicates that a van, driven by Tina Brooks, was traveling southbound on J.R. Miller Boulevard when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole and a tree.
The impact caused the tree to fall, blocking the roadway.
Brooks was the only person in the vehicle, and she had to be extricated.
She was transported to the hospital, where she later died.
