The Evansville Police Department has released its final determination in the Everett Nunn case.
The three-month investigation revealed that Officer Nicholas Helfert violated no policies or procedures the night of the shooting.
They say Nunn was holding an object shaped like a gun, which prompted Helfert to open fire.
Chief Philip Smith states that the investigation is not over.
Since there is so much community interest in the case, the findings of the review will be handed over to the Evansville Merit Commission for their own investigation.
Nunn’s family says that during the investigation, there was no transparency between them and EPD.
