A Kenton County, Kentucky, child has died from the flu, marking this the first pediatric flu death this season.
According to the Kentucky Department for Public Health, the child had not received the flu vaccination.
Hospitals are seeing an increase in seasonal influenza across the commonwealth, especially among children.
Officials say that the flu vaccine is safe, effective, and widely available.
Symptoms include…the sudden onset of fever, cough, sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, body aches, and fatigue.
