A program that will help people with cognitive disabilities is set to start in Posey County.
On January 1, Posey County Emergency Management Agency, in partnership with the Sheriff’s Office and Mt. Vernon Police Department, will launch Project Lifesaver.
The program is designed to help those with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and autism.
Participants will be fitted with a bracelet containing a transmitter equipped with a unique frequency.
If the person wanders away from home, dispatch will notify trained search specialists.
They will initiate a search using Project Lifesaver equipment.
