Police in Newburgh took possession of a gun brought to the school by a student.
The Warrick County School Corporation alerted parents about the incident on Thursday afternoon.
School officials said “heroic” students notified staff after learning of a gun in a student’s backpack.
The student was detained, and the gun was seized by authorities.
Police didn’t believe the student had planned to use the gun to hurt anyone.
