Twenty years in prison was the sentence Richard Thomas, Jr. was given by a judge yesterday.
Last April, Vanderburgh County Deputies were called to the Quality Inn on Elpers Road just off of Highway 41.
When officers went to the reported room and announced themselves, Thomas shot at them through the door.
That was the beginning of a seven hour standoff.
The woman in the room claims she was being held against her will.
When it was over, officers found several handguns, ammunition and meth.
No one was injured.
