The man that is accused of shooting a Union County sheriff’s deputy last week was in a Vanderburgh County courtroom on Monday.
49 year old Brian Eckman was being treated in an Evansville hospital.
Eckman is accused of shooting Deputy Jackie Carver near the area of the 3200 block of State Route 871.
Deputies responded to a call regarding a suicidal person.
When officers arrived, Eckman allegedly put a gun in the deputy’s face.
The suspect and the deputy were both hit during the exchange of gunfire.
The officer’s injuries are not life threatening.
Eckman waived extradition back to Kentucky.
