The man shot and killed on Friday, during a hostage situation has been identified.
Vanderburgh County coroners office say 34 year old Phillip Dill died from a gunshot wound to the head.
According to police when they arrived to the scene on Fairlawn Circle, they were able to remove several children from the home.
The victim was then taken to a backroom by Dill.
Police say they tried to negotiate with the suspect, until he forced their hand.
The woman was taken from the house and is safe.
