Deaths from drug overdoses have risen steadily in Vanderburgh County over the last three years,
That’s according to the coroner’s office.
The overdose death rate currently sits at 75 for the year.
The record is 80.
Coroner Steve Lockyear says meth and fentanyl are the cause of most of those deaths.
He says counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl are showing up in the area.
Those are responsible for a high percentage of the deaths.
