Summer is peeking over the horizon.
Most of us will not only be able to see it coming, we’ll hear it.
As temperatures rise, a particular breed of cicada, Brood X will come out of the ground where they’ve lived for 17 years, and will mate, laying their eggs in trees. and make a particular, often loud, noise;
then they’ll shed their skin and die in six weeks. Their children will meld into the ground and grow for another 17 years.
