Authorities have arrested a suspect involved in a Madisonville shooting that sent one man to the hospital.
Deputies responded to a shooting on Liberty Church Road on Saturday.
Sheriff Sanderson identified the shooting victim as William Keith Matheny of Madisonville.
He says Matheny was shot in the upper chest near his neck.
Authorities arrested 48-year-old Tara Skaggs in connection to the shooting.
Authorities say Skaggs and Matheny dated and there was an argument that led to the shooting.
Although Skaggs fled the scene before deputies arrived, they were able to track her down.
Authorities say she had walked probably 2 miles through woods and through several fields and ended up on Brown road just outside of the city limits.
That’s when a resident in the area called police and advised she had stopped there attempting to call a cab.
When officers arrived, they advised the resident that she was the suspect in the shooting.
Matheny is listed in critical but stable condition.
Skaggs is charged with 1st-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
