Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Chief of Police Billy Bolin announced their selection to fill the upcoming vacancy for Evansville assistant chief of police.
Officer Phil Smith will begin his tenure as assistant chief of police January 1st, 2021.
Current assistant chief of police, Chris Pugh, is retiring creating this advancement opportunity for Smith.
