An Evansville man was arrested after a 3-year-old was brought to the hospital Sunday morning with a gunshot wound.
26-year-old Antonio Harrell told officers that he had left the gun on the couch, partially covered.
He and the child’s mother heard a gunshot while they were in the kitchen.
Harrell believes a 5-year-old child may have been in the room.
The 3-year-old sustained a traumatic gunshot wound to his left forearm and had to be transferred to another hospital.
Harrell is being held on two charges of neglect, unlawful carrying of a handgun, and obstruction of justice.
