The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility will test thousands of water pipes all around the city that may contain lead.
Over the next ten years, the utility plans to replace them all
70-thousand notices have gone out to customers this month.
Executive Director Vic Kelson told a public meeting yesterday there are twenty-thousand pipes that need testing.
The next step is testing the water at day cares and schools. Utility testing will not include pipes in people’s homes.
