Earlier this month the Jasper Sheriff’s Office was called to a home to assist EMTs with a medical emergency.
26-year-old Rhyker Earl was demonstrating mental difficulties and significant physical resistance to medical personnel.
Deputies placed Earl in cuffs for his safety and that of the medical providers.
He was excited and did not respond to pleas to remain calm.
Earl became unresponsive and taken to the hospital, and later passed away.
A body-worn camera video, shows Earl forcibly banging his head on the floor.
The family has hired a lawyer.
