They lived to tell the story.
They were among the eight Marines who survived a battle in Vietnam in 1967.
Ten other Marines were killed and ten were wounded when their position on a key supply route for the Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese Army was attacked.
They could have all been killed had it not been for the decision of Staff Sergeant Gilbert Bolton to call in friendly fire on top of them.
