Travelers that use the Cave-in-Rock Ferry may have to find another route soon.
The ferry operator and the Ohio River Ferry Authority have until June 30 to settle on an agreement.
Since 2018, reimbursements to the Cave-in-Rock Ferry have more than doubled from $804,000 to over 1.6 million annually.
Kentucky’s five other state-funded ferry operations have increased, but at a much smaller rate.
The Cave-in-Rock Ferry carries 300 vehicles per day at no cost to travelers.
