Judge Rules In Favor Of Police Officer

An appeals court judge has ruled in favor of an Evansville police officer.

Sergeant Sam Smith was on patrol when he found Charles Brumitt in a parking lot, drunk.

During their encounter, Brummit reportedly struck Sergeant Smith in the face.

The sergeant defended himself by punching Brumitt in the face four times.

The judge ruled that Sergeant Smith did not use excessive force.
