The Henderson Police Department has received several complaints about an online scam.
The victims used Google to find a customer service phone number for Chime Financial Services.
The 800 number in the Google search was false and answered by a person with a foreign accent.
The person claimed to be a Chime employee and had the caller download a third-party app called “Any Desk”.
When the victim downloaded the app, the person claiming to be the Chime employee took over the victim’s phone and used it to steal money from their bank account.
