Area school teachers are looking forward to an increase in their paychecks. As we reported Tuesday the EVSC school board meets next week to ratify a proposed agreement with the Evansville Teachers Association. Warrick County School Corporation learned yesterday their pay has increased and the Metropolitan School District of Mount Vernon has announced a BIG increase for new teachers with a starting salary of $50,000. That’s $10,000 above the state requirement. MSD says it believes in compensating teachers at a level that reflects their expertise, dedication and influence they on the community’s youth.
