Downtown Apartment Fire Determined Accidental

Evansville firefighters were dispatched Saturday night to 627 SE Riverside Drive for an apartment fire.

When crews arrived, they reported a small fire in the bedroom and quickly put it out.

Structural damage was limited, however there was smoke and water damage throughout the apartment.

An extension cord used to supply power to a window AC unit was the cause of the fire.

Investigators ruled the fire accidental.

There were no injuries reported.
