Long Prison Sentence Given To Man Responsible In Toddler’s Death

A Posey County man was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Tuesday for the death of a toddler.

14 month old Nyla Brantley was in the care of Richard Kennedy and Samantha Burris in 2018 when she suffered head injuries.

She later died at a children’s hospital in Cincinnati while in the ICU.

In February, Kennedy pled guilty to neglect of a dependent resulting in death.

Samantha Burris’s trial is scheduled for September.
