The American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana has filed a suit against an Evansville police officer.
The suit claims Officer M. Taylor initiated a stop on Uber driver Kendra Owens without probable cause.
The suit also claims that the officer ordered Kendra out of her car and did a non-consensual search.
The officer searched her car without consent and had it towed, leaving Owen alone in cold weather.
In a written statement, E-P-D public information officer Sgt. Anna Gray says the department backs its officer and will not comment further while litigation is pending.
Body Cam footage was released on the department’s Facebook page.
