The Hopkinsville Police Department conducted an extensive drug trafficking investigation on 40 year old Melvin Brown.
Officers seized a large amount of money, a handgun and illegal drugs.
He was indicted by a federal grand jury this week for drug trafficking conspiracy and money laundering.
He is in the McCracken County Jail on federal charges.
Brown was a boy’s basketball coach at University Heights Academy.
Last week he was named the 2023 2nd Region Coach of the year, by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches.
He is no longer affiliated with the basketball team.
