Mount Vernon Police caught up with a man that was involved in a hit and run and assault last week.
25 year old Walter Hampton-Rainey is facing felony robbery, battery, leaving the scene of an accident and criminal mischief.
Officers were dispatched to Walnut Street for an assault on a juvenile December 22.
The victim told police the suspect approached him and demanded money.
Hampton-Rainey took the victim to the ground and hit him in the eye, then left.
Later that day a vehicle was spotted near Canal and 6th Street that matched the one involved in a hit and run accident.
It was also the same vehicle involved in the assault.
Hampton-Rainey is lodged in the Posey County Jail.
