A new facility that will serve as a shelter for women and children will open in early 2024.
Kyle Gorman with the Evansville Rescue Mission says on any given night, there are over 500 homeless people looking for shelter, half of that population are women.
Programs for mental health and addiction will be available.
The location of the new shelter will be on Professional Blvd and will have room for 120 women and children.
