Boaters will be out on lakes and rivers this fourth of July weekend celebrating with friends and family.
Rob Henson with the U.S. Coast guard says there are several things to be aware of before your boat leaves the dock.
Make sure your navigation lights work and ask everyone to wear a life jacket.
If water sports are on the agenda, wear a life jacket suited for that.
Never launch fireworks from your boat and remember this week is “Operation Dry Water” in other words, no drinking while driving a boat.
