On February 4, Providence police responded to a call of a welfare check near the 1200 block of KY-109.
They found 32 year old Nathan Cranfield sitting in a disabled car that was off the road.
Officials say, he pulled out a gun when officers approached him.
Cranfield was then shot by police chief Todd Jones one time.
After several days of recovery, he was released from the hospital and taken straight to jail charged with wanton Endangerment.
He has since been released on bond.
