Ray Tate, the man charged with the murder of Deputy Sean Riley, was arraigned in a Wayne County courtroom on Wednesday.
He pled not guilty to all 38 counts and waived his right to a jury trial and filed a motion for a speedy trial.
Some of the charges are first degree murder, aggravated vehicular hijacking, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
Prosecutors in St. Charles, Missouri have filed 14 charges against him.
In December, Illinois State Police say, Deputy Riley showed up to a motorist assist on I-64, a call made by a passerby.
When other deputies arrived, they found Riley’s body and his cruiser gone.
