Vanderburgh County Commissioners approve the settlement of a lawsuit.
The action involved Joshua Davis, a former county jail officer.
Davis was arrested after reportedly getting into a fight with an inmate and was accused of punching Drake Freels causing him to fall into a bunk bed.
Davis was acquitted of the battery charge.
Freels’ suit claims he suffered fractures to his face and a broken nose and needed reconstructive surgery.
The county will pay the first $100-thousand of the $215-thousand settlement.
