I had an interesting insect filled morning.
First, the nice hornet nest I spied while walking the dogs this morning. Afterwards, I got into my truck and found some Asian Ladybugs (Asian Lady Beetles) taking up residence.
The ladybugs are harmless. Actually, they are beneficial as they eat aphids.
Now the hornets? Well, I would prefer to avoid them. When I was a child, my grandma had a hornet’s nest IN THE HOUSE ON THE HUTCH! Nobody was stung (to my knowledge) but yikes!
Since we are going into winter, chances are that there is only a queen left in the hornet nest and she will get a new nest next spring. But, I’m going to leave this one where it is. Take only memories (and pics), leave only footprints.
