American Red Cross officials are calling shortages of whole blood and platelets an emergency.
They say their supplies are at the lowest after-summer levels in six years.
The Red Cross says it must collect 10-thousand blood products a week over he next month for the blood supply to ret urn to normal and meet hospital and patient needs.
They need donations of all types but most especially Type O.
Donors can contact their local Red Cross chapter to arrange a donation time..
