Songbirds that are sick or dying have shown up in 69 of Indiana’s 92 counties.
Vanderburgh and Gibson counties are among them.
The same problem has also been found in birds n Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio Pennsylvania and Maryland.
The unknown malady has affected ten species including American robins, Brown headed cowbirds, Blue Jays. Grackles, starlings, sparrows, house finches, red-headed woodpeckers, cardinals and wrens.
The cause is unknown and its not certain how the illness is transmitted.
