An Evansville Firefighter is recovering after being stabbed in the face during an incident Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters were the first to respond to a 911 call about an unresponsive male in the 4800 block of Ridge Knoll Drive.
They say they heard a “very disturbing scream” from inside the home.
One firefighter said he opened the door and announced the Fire Department, then someone stabbed his face near his nose with a large kitchen knife before swinging the door all the way open and charging to stab him again.
The man, later identified as John Eugene Deer, of Evansville, was subdued until police
