The Indiana General Assembly opens the door to a possible court fight with Governor Eric Holcomb, as legislators override the governor’s veto and give themselves more power to intervene in emergencies declared by the governor.
The bill lays down a new process under which legislative leaders can call the General Assembly into an emergency session.
Legal experts say that process is illegal because the state constitution gives the governor, instead of he legislature, the power to call an emergency session.
