Private schools in the Evansville area are voicing heir support for House Bill 1005.
The bill, if passed, would provide $100 million in grants to families to help pay for private school tuition.
E-V-S-C and the Teachers Association are on record as opposing the bill. their contention is that the money in question could be better used to improve public schools.
Meantime, the Catholic Diocese of Evansville has come out in favor of the idea, saying the bill “empowers parents to find the best educational opportunity that fits the needs of their students.”
Likewise, Evasnville Christian School has issued a statement. It reads, in part, “When access to educational options is at its greatest, our region can truly thrive.
