A new variant of the Coronavirus has made it’s way into the tri-state area.
The SARS-CoV-2 variant, one native to the UK, was reportedly detected by Deaconess officials.
While concerning, this was no surprise as CDC predicted the UK variant being the predominant COVID-19 strain by March.
CDC data suggests that this virus is 30-70% more contagious than the original strain and is more deadly.
Deaconess is currently working closely with the Indiana State Department of Health to actively track this variant and make reports to CDC.
