Something new for Vanderburgh County voters in this fall’s election.
The county commission has purchased about 550 new voting machines with money provided by the state.
The current machines are 16 years old and are being replaced.
The new machines have a verified paper trail. It prints out a ballot after voters make their selections.
Voters check it and approve it, and it’s then scanned and returned to the voter, according to county clerk Carla Hayden.
