Evansville City leaders and school officials say students from the Evansville Promise Neighborhood will now be able to qualify for a chance to earn some cash.
Beginning October 1st, students with perfect attendance will be entered into a monthly lottery. Mayor Stephanie Terry says 37 families will be selected each month to receive $300 that will go toward essential household expenses.
Mayor Terry says she hopes the program will encourage kids to go to school while also addressing financial barriers students may be facing.
Leaders at EVSC say the program will be a great way to encourage students to learn.
