An investigation is underway following the death of an inmate at the Vanderburgh County Jail.
The incident occurred just before midnight on Thursday in one of the housing units.
Life-saving measures were immediately initiated.
Emergency medical personnel from the Evansville Fire Department and AMR arrived on scene to provide additional care.
Despite resuscitation efforts, 33-year-old Destinee Howard could not be revived.
In accordance with Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office policy, an external agency is conducting the investigation.
