An Evansville man is accused of stabbing himself and making up a story that someone else did it.
Tuesday morning, officers responded to a stabbing report behind an urgent care on South Green River Road, where they found Zachary Wilder with a knife sticking out of his leg.
He initially claimed that he was taking out the trash when a man stabbed him.
Drones, K9s, and other resources were used to look for a suspect, and daycares and schools were placed on lockdown.
He later admitted to making up the story to cover up accidentally cutting himself while breaking down boxes.
He thought he would get in trouble if he had to report another workplace injury.
Wilder is charged with false informing.
