A tragic day for the community surrounding Indianapolis on Monday.
Authorities confirmed a Beech Grove officer had been shot and killed while responding to a domestic incident, and another officer was wounded.
The suspect fled, causing a shelter-in-place order.
After an hours-long search, an alert citizen helped officers find and arrest the suspect, 47-year-old Kenneth Terrell Johnson.
33-year-old Officer Brian Elliott was killed at the scene.
He was on the force for less than 2 years.
The other officer has not been identified but is expected to survive.
