A house fire claims the life of a 64-year-old Madisonville man.
Neighbors reported hearing an explosion before the home on Alan Drive erupted in flames.
Later that day, fire crews were called to another house fire five blocks away on W. Arch Street, where two people were rescued.
One person was taken to the hospital by ambulance, and another was flown to a hospital for severe burns.
Both fires are being investigated and are believed to be separate cases.
