The chilly temperatures raised a white flag at the United Caring Shelter overnight.
Executive Director Ryan Riggs says they had planned to raise the flag on November 1, but the cold temperatures arrived earlier this year.
Last year, the white policy changed from 32 degrees to 40.
Between November 1 and April 30, the shelter is open to anyone who needs a place to sleep and a warm meal, regardless of the temperature.
Donated blankets can be dropped off at the front desk of the building located at 324 NW 6th Street in Evansville.
