A semi accident in Newburgh has claimed the life of a child.
The incident occurred as the girl attempted to cross the street at the intersection of Sharon Road and State Road 66, near the Sharon Woods Apartments.
Sheriff Mike Wilder says there is evidence from the scene that the semi driver tried to brake.
Indiana State Police brought an accident reconstruction team to the scene.
Sheriff Wilder said the victim was of middle school age.
Her name was not disclosed.
