A Medal of Honor recipient will be in Evansville through Wednesday to speak about his lifelong service.
Don Ballard is a retired Colonel with the Army National Guard.
He received the Medal of Honor as a hospital corpsman third class in the Navy.
Ballard is best known for the moment he threw himself onto a live grenade during the Vietnam War, an act that earned him the Medal of Honor.
The public is invited to hear him speak at 6 PM on Wednesday at USI’s Carter Hall.
