The Ohio Township Fire Department is reminding all motorists not to drive over fire hose at an emergency scene.
Fire hoses are a critical lifeline between the fire apparatus and the firefighters operating inside burning structures.
Driving over a hose can reduce or completely cut off the water supply needed to control a fire, putting firefighters in harm’s way.
It’s also against the law in Indiana.
If you see a fire hose on the roadway, the first thing you do is stop.
Then follow directions from firefighters or law enforcement.
