The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office has charged an inmate with Escape following an incident at an area hospital.
The suspect, Connor Spachtholz, had been admitted for observation.
A sheriff’s deputy was assigned to provide custody watch during his stay.
While secured in leg shackles, he entered the restroom and claimed he wished to use the shower.
Moments later, the deputy heard a loud crash.
The deputy discovered multiple ceiling tiles lying on the floor, a light fixture hanging down, and broken drywall.
Spachtholz claimed the damage was accidental.
Investigators determined this account was inconsistent with the physical evidence.
Spachtholz was discharged from the hospital and transported back to jail.
