A search warrant in Daviess County was served on the wrong house.
The warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in Owensboro.
Detectives forced the door open after announcing their presence and getting no response.
After securing the residence and speaking with the homeowner, detectives realized that he was not the intended target of the operation.
The resident was not injured, and detectives immediately arranged and paid for repairs to the damaged door.
Daviess County Sheriff Brad Youngman says he has directed a formal internal review to determine exactly where their procedures failed and what additional safeguards are necessary going forward.
